Tree Surveys & Tree Inspections

Tree owners have a legal responsibility and duty of care to ensure their trees do not pose an unacceptable risk and to ensure that any trees situated on their land remain in a safe condition. This falls under the Occupiers Liability Acts 1957 & 1984. Especially sites with public access. Commercial premises have a further obligation under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 to undertake regular tree surveys so that trees do not cause foreseeable damage.

Advanced Tree Services can carry out ground-level and aerial tree condition surveys. Utilising the Visual Tree Assessment [VTA] method, we will assess the condition of individual trees or groups of trees, offering recommendations on immediate and future management.

We can also undertake large scale tree condition surveys using our in-house computerised data capture system.  Our inspectors also have extensive experience in using Arbortrack, Ezytreev and Confirm.

Our tree survey clients include local authorities (The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, Epsom and Ewell Council), as well as schools, sporting venues, private care homes, and housing associations.

BS5837:2012 reports for planning applications

Trees are an important consideration for any development and are one of the environmental constraints which need to be considered during the validation process. ATS can support you from the very outset. From the feasibility and planning phase of the development (Tree Surveys and Tree Constraint Plans) to the detailed technical design phase through to the implementation [Tree Protection Plans, Arboricultural Method Statements] and aftercare phases (site monitoring). The support provided by ATS can mean the difference between success and failure with your planning application.

Mortgage Reports

Homebuyers are increasingly being required to provide tree reports by insurance companies and mortgage lenders. Insurance companies often insist on this type of report for mortgage purposes. An inspection is conducted to assess the likelihood of trees causing subsidence damage to an identified property. A presentable, digital report is produced covering the assessment of the trees (within influencing distance) both on and off the subject property. We will also detail recommendations for remedial tree works.
