TREE REMOVAL
Professional tree removal across Surrey and London.
ATS provides carefully planned tree removal for homeowners, businesses and local authorities. Our experienced arborists assess the tree, site and access before selecting an appropriate felling or sectional dismantling method.
When tree removal may be required
- A dead, dying or structurally unsafe tree
- Severe storm damage or root failure
- Development or planned site changes
- A tree unsuitable for its location
CONTROLLED TREE REMOVAL
Planned around the tree, property and access.
Tree removal requires careful preparation. ATS considers the tree’s condition, surrounding buildings, public areas, utilities, working space and access before deciding how the work should proceed.

Protection for surrounding property
Safe and orderly site clearance

PLANNED REMOVAL METHODS
The right method for every tree and site.
Where sufficient space is available, a tree may be felled from ground level in a controlled direction. On restricted or sensitive sites, it may need to be dismantled in sections by climbing arborists or using suitable access equipment.
Branches and timber can be lowered using ropes, rigging or mechanical handling equipment where required. ATS selects the team, equipment and working method according to the risks and constraints of the site.
TREE REMOVAL SERVICES
Removal methods matched to the site.
From straightforward felling to complex dismantling, every operation is assessed and planned before work begins.
Straight felling
Controlled felling from ground level where there is sufficient space and site conditions allow it.
Sectional dismantling
Removing a tree progressively in sections where buildings, gardens or limited space prevent straight felling.
Confined-access removal
Planned removal where access, working space or surrounding property creates additional constraints.
Mechanical assistance
Use of suitable lifting, access or timber-handling equipment for larger or more complex operations.
Hazardous tree removal
Proportionate action for dead, damaged, unstable or storm-affected trees requiring controlled removal.
Timber and site clearance
Processing and removing branches, timber and debris unless another arrangement is agreed beforehand.

ASSESSMENT FIRST
Removal is recommended only where appropriate.
Tree removal may be necessary because of condition, structural instability, location or planned site changes, but it is not automatically the right response to every concern.
ATS assesses whether the tree can reasonably be retained through pruning or other management before recommending removal. We also identify whether protection, permissions, ecological considerations or further investigation may affect the proposed work.
HOW TREE REMOVAL WORKS
A controlled process from assessment to clearance.
ATS confirms why removal is required, assesses the site and selects a safe working method before the operation begins.

TREE REMOVAL FAQS
Questions about professional tree removal.
Clear answers about removal methods, permissions, site clearance and what to expect from the work.
How will you remove the tree safely?
The method depends on the tree, available space, access and surrounding hazards. ATS may use controlled felling, sectional dismantling, rigging or suitable mechanical equipment according to the site assessment.
Do I need permission to remove a tree?
Permission may be required if the tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order or situated within a conservation area. Other restrictions can also apply. ATS can advise what should be checked.
Is stump removal included?
Tree removal and stump grinding are separate operations. If you would like the remaining stump ground below the surrounding level, tell us so it can be assessed and included in the quotation.
Will you remove the timber and branches?
Yes. Unless another arrangement is agreed, branches, timber and debris from the operation will be removed and the working area left safe and tidy.
NEED A TREE REMOVED?
Arrange a professional tree assessment.
